Preparing for Shanghai

Let the house hunting begin!  C. and I are taking advantage of my spring break to spend a few days in Shanghai scoping out the best housing options for us.  This will be quite a challenge partly because Shanghai is huge, and also because there is such a variety of options.  We have been very comfortable and happy in our serviced apartment in Hanoi, so we will certainly look at similar options in Shanghai.  However, we might want to enjoy some of Shanghai's characteristic historical feature, which would lead us to some unique apartments or row houses in different neighborhoods in the city.  Another factor is where each of us will be working; C. will be getting a new office and he knows the general area, and I am still looking for a job.
Despite the significant task ahead of us I think we're starting off the right way - we've done some searching online and even mapped out the places we'll be looking at first.  I won't expect to sign any contracts this week, but I am really excited to catch a glimpse of what's available.  No more stale, white, beige, boring apartment for us!!
For anyone that is already familiar with Shanghai, check out the map of where we're beginning our search.  The red dots are the two main international schools on the Puxi side where I'm hoping to get a job.

I'll add photos of our favorite places once the hunt is underway.  Cross your fingers and hope for a perfect match!

  1. Well, hello Mrs. Allyn S. Miller! This should be a fun adventure for you and Chris. This venue to share what is going on in your lives looks like a great idea. Look forward to more.
